Is My Therapy Right For You?
Finding the right therapist can feel overwhelming. You may be looking for someone who truly listens, who sees you as a whole person and not just a diagnosis, and who helps you feel safe while working toward real change.

My goal is to make this process as easy and welcoming as possible. If you’re looking for someone compassionate, grounded, and direct, I may be a good fit for you.
About Dr. Micaela Benavidez

Just a little about me. My name is pronounced Mick-A-lah Ben-ah-VEE-dez. Don’t worry, telemarketers still get it wrong all the time.

I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi and went on to complete both my Master’s and Doctorate (Psy.D.) at Nova Southeastern University.

My training has always been centered around trauma. During graduate school, I worked in programs focused on family violence and trauma resolution, which shaped how I approach therapy today.

After that, I completed my internship and postdoctoral training at The Renfrew Center, a nationally recognized eating disorder treatment facility, where I provided both individual and group therapy.

Today, I work with adults navigating PTSD, anxiety, depression, and the long-term impact of trauma. My approach is client-centered, trauma-informed, and collaborative. Therapy with me is meant to feel safe, but also honest and productive.

I am EMDR-trained and have completed the requirements for full EMDRIA certification. I’m licensed in Texas and bring over a decade of clinical experience into my work.

At the end of the day, my goal is simple. I want to help you feel more like yourself again, and build a life that actually feels good to live.
